The Villiers Terrace concept was to create a luxurious, surreal take on the country house. Familiar yet exotic. Textures and vibrant colours bring the space inwards, welcoming all. Specially selected artworks immediately reinforce our concept, they being conversation pieces for years to come.
Reinstating & opening up the fireplaces with oversized timber sleepers create focal points while the extensive use of sawn timber sections cladding the front and back of the bar add warmth. To improve circulation and create a more coherent space, the bar area was simplified by demolishing a section of wall that had previously split the bar service area.

Spot lighting key artworks, and eclectic table lamps created an immediate ambience. Wherever we could, a twist was added: curtain fabrics; floor to ceiling, bevel edged tiled mirrors echoing the space; fabric lampshades, crystal chandeliers, and enamelled utilitarian shades all happy together. Furniture included vintage Chesterfields, grand three piece velvet suites, studded leather dining chairs with gnarly timber side tables all chosen for their eccentric detailing. The original oak flooring was sanded and stained, bringing it back to life once more

A key strategy was to construct an entrance terrace complete with a retractable awning, and loose furniture. This terrace suddenly gave Villiers Terrace more positive presence on an otherwise difficult location.
The use of heavy curtains improved both the internal acoustics and help contain noise transmittance of Villiers Terrace, located in a residential area.
